What is Fostering? And Why is Summer a Great Time to Help!

We’ve all probably heard about fostering a pet, but what exactly does that mean? Fostering a pet is when you get to give an animal a temporary home where they can feel safe and loved. Fostering can give you the experience of having a pet and is also a fun idea if you have kids at home that want one, but can’t commit to having a furry friend forever. Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue, ROAR, has a Foster Care Program where you can take home a pet for a small duration of time, which helps both the animals and the shelters. This summer, you can share the joy of fostering with your family. These precious animals will get the love and care they need and you will feel wonderful having helped a shelter animal find their forever home.

Why Should You Foster?

You will be a happier person and a happier family. Your heart will grow bigger. Your life will be a lot more interesting. You’ll be more active and adorable!

Benefits of Fostering!

One of the perks of fostering is that there is no cost, while still getting the benefit of loving and helping out an animal. ROAR provides food, litter for cat fosters, training for dog fosters, along with veterinary care being completely covered. Fostering gives the opportunity to do something nice for an animal like getting them out of the shelter and overall helps the shelters save more animals. With an easy step of filling out a Foster Application Form, you could help bring a pet home.

Why Foster with ROAR this summer – you can save even more lives!

ROAR’s physical shelter can only house a certain number of cats and dogs. Fosters help open kennel and cage space so ROAR can save other homeless cats and dogs.

While the ROAR shelter is a secure, loving place for many pets, sometimes it can be stressful and shows signs by pacing or hiding in the shelter. A foster home offers a place where the pet can destress and socialize while its furever family is found.

A dog has not lived in a home before or has not had much contact with people and needs to be socialized. A foster teaches them how to be good pets.
