ANIMAL CARE ASSISTANT

Job Description

Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR) is seeking Animal Care Assistant to provide the daily care of the animals in the shelter. Primary responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, medicating animals as well as ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the shelter.

Duties include but are not limited to: housekeeping, laundry, mopping, sweeping and cleaning various areas of shelter; feeding, medicating and care of dogs and cats. Observing shelter animals for any unusual symptoms that may be indicative of a medical or behavioral problem and report to supervisor. Experienced candidate must be comfortable with animal handling.

Candidate must be 18 years or older, reliable, good team player, able to work efficiently, good communication skills, ability to multi-task, take direction well and the confidence to deal with various situations on a daily basis. Knowledge and experience in animal care and handling for both dogs and cats are strongly preferred. Be able to maneuver 50+ lbs.

Starting pay is $13.00/hr. Hours are part-time; weekdays and weekends; mornings and/or evenings; approximately 15-20 hours /week. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and be able to get to work in all kinds of weather-related situations.
